Today marks the opening of Tiruchirappalli International Airport’s newly integrated terminal.

Today, June 11, is the first day of flight operations at Trichy airport’s new terminal building. On January 2, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the terminal its grand opening.

On June 11, 2024, at 05:00 hours, all operations at Trichy Airport were moved to the new Integrated Terminal.

Tiruchirapalli: Today, June 11, 2024, marks the opening of the new terminal at Trichy International Airport, which was constructed at a cost of Rs. 1,112 crore and has the capacity to handle 4.5 million (45 lakh) people annually. Through a video conference, Prime Minister Narendran Modi set the project’s foundation in 2019. The new terminal was finished in three years, and on January 2 of this year, the Prime Minister officially opened it.

“Trichy International Airport, owned by the Airports Authority of India, is pleased to announce that its operations will be moved to our New Terminal building as of June 11, 2024, at 0500 hours. As to the press release issued by Trichy International Airport, “We kindly request our esteemed passengers to make note of the changes and plan their travel accordingly.”

Over 3,500 people can travel through the new terminal at once. There are spaces available for 750 automobiles, 250 taxis, and 10 buses to park. There are 60 check-in desks, 40 counters for the immigration area each, 15 x-ray machines, 3 VIP lounges, and 10 gates for departure and 6 gates for arrival. A ramp conveyor has been put in place to transport the luggage of passengers. According to a senior official, an observation tower equipped with cutting-edge technology can keep an eye on any area of the runway from 360 degrees.

Ten flights’ worth of passengers can be managed at once. There is capacity for 12 flights per hour at the new terminal. In a 24-hour period, at least 240 planes can land and take off. A total of 75,000 square meters have been used to construct the new Trichy International Airport terminal.
